“SO YOU AND IVAN are . . .” Leaving her sentence hanging, Josephine watched me closely while the twins sat side by side on the van’s running board, scarfing food like they hadn’t eaten in several days.

“I’m in love with him.” I wasn’t going to presume to speak for Ivan, but I wasn’t ashamed of my feelings. Besides, Josephine probably already knew how things were because of Tyler.

“Wow.” Dolly’s evergreen eyes widened.

“Unwise.” Josephine’s brows dipped. “He’s a man-child. Fuck him, sure. He’s sexy as hell, but don’t get involved unless you plan on getting your heart broken.”

“Too late for my heart not to be involved,” I said, not shying from her direct gaze.

“Only two things left to do then.” Dolly smiled wide, deepening her dimples. “Get drunk or find a better man.”

“How about no man?” Josephine shook her head at the blonde standing across from her.

“Pfft.” Dolly put her hands on her hips, and her big boobs nearly popped out of her laced-up white blouse. “Don’t see you abstaining, Jo.”

“Ty knows what we are.”

“He so does not. You just choose to ignore the signs that he wants to claim you because you like that big dick of his.”

“Not being claimed by him. We work together. Anyway . . .” Josephine arched one dark brow. “It’s not the size of his cock that interests me, but what he does with it. I—”

“TMI, Jo!” Dolly covered her ears and started humming loudly.

“I shut up already.” Josephine pried the blonde’s hands away from her ears. The humming stopped, and the multiple silver bracelets on Dolly’s wrist jangled together.

“You really set your heart on Ivan, honey?” Dolly’s gaze focused on me again, and her dark blond brows rose to an inquiring height.

“Not just set. It’s a done deal.”

“Then there’s only one other option for you.” Her green eyes twinkled. “Liquor.”

“Amen.” I returned her smile.

“No one’s getting drunk.” Josephine shook her finger at me and then Dolly. “And no one’s driving while intoxicated.”

“We can have a beer right here in the parking lot. I’m not going to drink and drive, Jo. Marsha’s not either. She’s the RFC star. She has a driver, and her own fucking tour bus.”

“I never drink and drive.”

“Good.” Josephine gave me a chin lift. “Respect that.”

“What do you have?” I asked, my gaze turning to Dolly.

“A couple of Lone Stars in the cooler.”

“And one more joint,” Lark said around a huge bite of chicken-fried steak.

“Any tequila?” I asked.

“I wish, but no. Sorry.”

“It’s okay. Cuervo tends to get me in trouble.” And Raven wasn’t really around to bail me out of it anymore.

“Being intoxicated rarely improves anyone’s personality.” Intensity emanated from Josephine as she cast her gaze around to all of us. She seemed hyperalert since the mention of alcohol.

“I filmed Raven one night. We were both wasted.” I thought giving Josephine a little of my own backstory and lessons learned might lighten her up. “My drunk stupidity posting her rant online got her locked into a reality show and a movement.”

“There are worse consequences,” Dolly said softly.
